Plane tickets, passports, visas applications, travel health insurance, orientations, and many shots (which will be injected on dec 11... yikes!) still do not help me comprehend the adventure that is scheduled to begin on January 11th, 2009 at 3pm. This whole process has been filled with excitement, fear, stress, and anticipation. At this point I am excited but more in disbelief. I cannot believe that I will be in Ghana from January to May, I cannot believe that I will not see my family and friends for 5 months, and I cannot imagine being a minority for the first time in my life. These thoughts scare me because I know I will miss home and become lonely for my family. However, the opportunities and adventures that await me usually overshadow the fears I harbor. I have currently been doing a lot of research on Ghana's political history for a research paper which is making me feel more prepared to go and excited to take classes there. But anywho, until I do board the plane I will be busy stressing over finals, feeling overwhelmed with packing, enjoying christmas, and saying goodbyes.
